The small town (8,000 inhabitants) located in Devon has the ambition to be autonomous from the point of view of food and energy by 2030.

Combating packaging and waste, fair and independent business, short food chains and conviviality, organic farming, local currency and training are the many initiatives and practices adopted in Totnes over the last ten years or more, inspired in particular by Rob Hopkins initiator of the cities in transition movement.
